Demystifying Publishing: A Short-Guide for Early Career Researchers
Abstract
Across the academy, there is growing concern over diversity within our academic institutions, with an increased focus on equipping Early Career Researchers (ECRs) with information about the profession, including publishing, and making such ‘hidden curriculum’ visible. These Critical Perspectives essays build upon the successful professionalization webinar on Demystifying Publishing & Reviewing held by Politics and Gender in October 2022. They offer a practical, comprehensive toolkit on the publishing process, covering types of publications, editors’ perspectives, the review process from the perspectives of responding and writing reviews, and advice for publishing during a PhD program.
