WOMEN & PUBLIC POLICY
(PS355)

Course Description

This course examines legal and policy issues related to gender inequality, including reproductive rights and abortion, sexuality, wages and labor policy, welfare policy, sexual harassment, sexual assault and domestic violence. A special focus will be placed on the intersection of gender, sexual orientation, race, and class.

The course will be organized around reading major US Supreme Court decisions each week, coupled with historical and social/political commentary on each case. We will also watch a series of documentary films and have several guest speakers, all of whom are directly working on gender equality issues today.
